Peter Molyneaux was regarded as one of the most significant editorial writers in the early twentieth century. After attending Meadville Theological School, where he studied economics, sociology, and philosophy, he joined the staff at the Houston Post and later worked for the San Antonio Express. For over ten years, Molyneaux was the chief editorial writer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Molyneaux is also well-known for his contributing weekly column to the Dallas Morning News called "A Texan Looks at the World." In Texas, he printed many articles advocating women's suffrage and compulsory education. He wrote many memorable and interesting pamphlets on economics, as well as two books, The Romanic Story of Texas and The South's Political Plight. In recognition of his contributions to Texas' newspapers, SMU was honored to confer upon Peter Molyneaux the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa.
